St. Elisabeth’s Nursery School strives to create a nurturing environment in which children feel comfortable and secure so that each child has the opportunity to grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically at his or her own pace throughout the school year. The teachers follow a broad-based academic curriculum which introduces work in areas such as literacy, math, science and art. As the children master the various concepts presented throughout the school year, they develop a healthy sense of accomplishment and self-esteem. In addition to administering the academic curriculum, the teachers also carefully cultivate the emerging socialization skills of the children. Within the structured setting of the classroom, the children begin the process of learning how to think about themselves as members of a community and develop friendships with their peers. The teachers assist the children in working toward their goals not only as individuals, but also as a cohesive group of learners.
